Elise Zijai is a dynamic and compassionate counsellor dedicated to ensuring her clients feel understood and valued. She is member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia and has been in practice for many years supporting children, adolescents, adults and families across a wide range of presenting issues.
Elise is effective at connecting with her clients and encouraging them to accept themselves wholly. She seamlessly creates a therapeutic space that feels safe and free of judgment, informed by her own lived experience. Elise holds the belief that we have 'no bad parts', just parts that have histories, stories to tell, and new stories to be made. As such, each session with her is grounded in emotional safety and trauma-informed care, respecting the mind-body-heart connection in every individual.
Elise's expertise is evident in her thoughtful consideration of her clients’ specific challenges and goals, recognising that each person is deeply influenced by their unique life experiences. Therefore, she employs an integrated and client-centred approach, skilfully drawing from a range of therapeutic modalities. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness techniques, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focussed Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Somatic Therapy. Ultimately, Elise hopes to inspire her clients to uncover and cultivate their existing strengths alongside nurturing self-acceptance and resilience. Her aspiration is to empower her clients to create peaceful, joyful, and authentic lives well lived.
