Wondering if you’re addicted to porn can be a difficult question to answer. It’s not something people talk about openly and it can feel like awkward territory to explore. Firstly, there is absolutely no shame in being here - Life Supports is a completely safe, non-judgemental space. Generally, if you feel your porn use is taking up more of your life than you’d like, affecting your relationships, or making it harder to live the way you want to, this quiz is a good place to start, and will help you establish whether or not therapy might be a good path forward.

A counsellor or sex therapist can be an immense help in working through porn addiction. They will provide a safe, judgement-free space to help you understand what’s driving the pattern, as well as some tools to help you overcome it. Whether that means unpacking whether porn is being used to fill a gap in your life, working through any feelings of guilt you may be experiencing, or rebuilding intimacy with your partner. If you feel uncomfortable about discussing such a personal topic, know that we get it; these subjects can feel awkward to open up about.
Life Supports offers a warm space for you to freely express what you are experiencing, without any judgement, and the process is always completely confidential. To ensure you get the most out of your sessions, the Life Supports’ team will match you with a therapist based on your individual needs and preferences, aiming to make the relationship as productive for you as it possibly can be. If you’d like to organise a time to chat, call 1300 735 030 or leave us an email via our contact page.
Porn addiction is not currently recognised as a formal clinical diagnosis. However, that doesn’t mean problematic or compulsive porn use isn’t a real concern. If your porn use feels difficult to control, causes distress, or begins to negatively affect your relationships, work, wellbeing or everyday life, seeking professional support could be helpful.
There’s no specific amount of porn use that is considered “too much” for everyone. What matters more is how it affects your life and whether you feel in control of your behaviour. If you find yourself viewing porn compulsively, struggling to cut back, or noticing that it’s interfering with your relationships, responsibilities or wellbeing, it may be time to consider making a change.
Your first session is a chance to get to know your therapist and for your therapist to get to know you, and understand what has brought you to counselling. Your therapist will ask how you’ve been feeling, what has been going on for you recently, as well as your therapy goals. This initial session will help the therapist understand your situation a little more clearly, so they can plan a path forward. We know the initial session can feel daunting, but our therapists make clients feel as comfortable as possible and will always move at the pace you feel comfortable with.
